Separation Advice from Miss Kim…
School is a “giant” step in your child’s development. Separation can be a difficult time for you and your child as their knowledge of the world is growing and they may cling to you for reassurance that all is safe. At Zale we know the wide-eyed eagerness of your child, the exciting environment of our classrooms and the warmth, love and concern the teachers provide will guarantee to make a child’s transition into the classroom a huge success.
During separation parents should bring their child into the classroom and have a seat on the side of the room. Their teacher will encourage your child to play and interact while you, the parent, now become the observer. Your child’s teacher will let you know when to leave, according to your child’s individual needs. When leaving your child, always give them a quick good-bye and let them know you will be back for them soon. Good-bye is important as it builds trust between you and your child. End of class routines such as “meet me at bubble time” or a good-bye song can help children have closure to their day. They are now ready to begin their journey to independence!
The VPK program, in which the state of Florida pays for 540 hours of a PreK program, is open to children who are four years old by September 1, 2016 who have not already participated in a VPK program.
To participate, you must register your child in the county in which they will be attending a VPK school.
