Helene & Roy Schwedelson Special Needs Programs

Intro

The following programs are designed to enhance the lives of children, teens and adults with disabilities.
Pre-K - 12th Grade
Innovative sports and fitness program where skilled coaches and high school volunteers assist each participant in achieving success.
In the summer, campers enjoy an 8-week program that features a variety of typical camp activities on campus and in community settings, with a focus on having fun while acquiring vital life skills.  When school is not in session, campers participate in a myriad of activities similar to the summer camp program.
A Judaic educational program that fosters enriched participation in Jewish life.
Project RIDE (Recreation, Independence, Development, Equipment) serves children ages 6-17. This bike loaner program provides new, specially modified tricycles for children who would not otherwise have an opportunity to ride a bike.
Kids just want to have fun in this innovative fitness and play center that includes adaptive equipment for children with special needs.
Adult Programs - Ages 18+
The Schwedelson social groups are for adults functioning at a high level of independence in community settings.  Participants enjoy a variety of weekly activities as they meet new friends, enhance social relationships and cultivate vital life skills.  Activities include sporting events, pool and beach events, theatre performances, concerts and dances, lunch outings, festivals, community service projects and a fabulous weekend trip to a popular Florida destination.

An innovative self-defense, safety and self-awareness program for teenage girls and adult women ages 18+
Levis JCC personal trainers lead this year-round fitness program where participants learn about fitness equipment and workouts.
This ongoing group offered by JARC, offers opportunities to share common experiences, feelings, learn about community resources and plan for the future.
Levis JCC is a certified on-the-job training site with the Florida Department of Vocational Rehabilitation for individuals ages 16 and older with a disability.  Our Levis JCC Copanos Fitness & Play Center and the Childcare Program of the Levis JCC Fitness Center are current training locations.
