THEATER AT THE J: 2017-18 SEASON

Theater at the J is The Sandler Centers’ black box stage theater, presenting performances to the public throughout the year. We present professional award-winning musicals, non-musicals, and cabarets, in addition to giving members of our community the opportunity to participate in professional-quality theater onstage, backstage, and from the audience.

God of Carnage

A playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters.

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play and Laurence Oliver Award for Best Comedy.

The end of the war is rapidly approaching and Captain Franklin Payne and his men are anxious to get to Berlin. Along the way, they are detoured to a small village in the Bavarian Forest. But all is not what it seems in this tiny tranquil town. What starts as an overnight respite evolves into an examination of man’s indifference to the suffering of others, and the horrors of what human beings are capable of doing to other human beings.
