Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),
Between several community events this past week, my wife’s birthday today, and the Super Bowl coming up this Sunday, this Shabbat message comes at a very eventful time! I wish Lori a very happy birthday, and to those of you who will be watching the big game, may your team win!
Speaking of wins, this past weekend our Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center’s Jeans Jewels & the J – Movin’ and Groovin’ event made a triumphant in-person return. After two years of presenting this event virtually, it was a joy to welcome nearly 350 community members to join in celebrating our Levis JCC, our exceptional honorees and community leaders, and the programs, services, and events our Levis JCC departments provide to our community. This was my first “JJJ” and I could not be prouder of our incredible leadership and staff who worked tirelessly to make it a success. I am truly honored to be a part of this winning team! This week’s Torah portion is Yitro (Jethro) in the book of Exodus, the second in the Five Books of Moses. In it, Jethro, Moses’ father in law, advises Moses to appoint a hierarchy of magistrates and justices to assist him in the task of governing and administering justice to the people. All these thousands of years later, in successful organizations such as our Levis JCC, we too work diligently to nominate and elect leadership to effectively and efficiently manage our complex and essential organization to benefit our Jewish community and the broader community here in South Palm Beach County. Like Jethro in ancient times, and like the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs today, we know that success comes when leadership works with a highly functioning team to achieve meaningful, impactful, and outstanding results.
