Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),

This Friday Lori and I will be heading to St. Petersburg to visit my brother to celebrate his 58th birthday. I’m too young to have a 58 year old older brother! It has been quite a while since we have been back on the West Coast of Florida, where we lived (in Sarasota) from 2002-2013. It is wonderful to be able to easily return, especially to spend time with family and some of our dear friends.

Speaking of wonderful events, the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center’s second JBIZ event took place earlier this week at Farmer’s Table. Forty people participated in a lunch that featured Guest Speaker Renia M. Orr, who is a Business Coach, Brand Strategist & Speaker, LDV Elite. The feedback from our participants has been incredibly positive and we look forward to continue growing this new Levis JCC program.

This week’s double Torah portion is Vayikra (And He Called)/Zachor (Remember) in the book of Leviticus, the third in the Five Books of Moses. In Zachor we are commanded to “Remember what Amalek did to you on the Road and we are commanded to eradicate it from the face of the earth.” Thousands of years later, we are battling today’s version of Amalek in the form of Hamas. Our hearts are with Israel, the hostages and the IDF. We remember what was done on October 7th, 2023. We will NEVER forget.
