Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),
This Shabbat message comes to you after an exciting Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals between our Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers. While it wasn’t a win for us on Tuesday night, our Cats are leading the series 3-2, and I am hoping for a win tomorrow night. Go Cats!
This morning at the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center, Board Chair Steve Clarfield, Immediate Past Board Chair Emily Grabelsky, and Vice Chair of Board Engagement Richard Koblick joined us for a tour of our Marleen Forkas Camp Kavod – our day camp for children and teens with special needs. It was heartwarming and inspiring to see this wonderful program in action. If you would like to learn more about our Camp Kavod program or any of the 20+ programs of the Helene & Roy Schwedelson Special Needs Department, please click here.
This week’s Torah portion is Behaalotecha (When You Raise) in the Book of Numbers, the fourth in the Five Books of Moses. In it, G-d instructs Moses on the procedures for Israel’s journeys and encampments in the desert, and the people journey in formation from Mount Sinai, where they had been camped for nearly a year. They are journeying from the desert to the promised land of Israel after being freed from slavery in Egypt. Each of us is on a journey –the Levis JCC is proud to be here to be a part of your journey. Whether you’re connecting with us for summer camp, for special needs programming, for Arts, Culture & Learning, any of our wonderful Levis JCC programs or events, we welcome you to be a part of our lively, engaged, and growing community.
Light Shabbat candles Friday night at 7:58 pm
