Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),
We did it— our Florida Panthers are the Stanley Cup Champions for the first time in the 30-year franchise history! It took all seven games to accomplish it, but we got it done! It’s always so exciting when your home team wins a championship, and I am already looking forward to next year’s season of fantastic South Florida sports.
This week, the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center presented another wonderful Ladies’ Night Out event. Chaired by Diane Fiddle, Penny Katz and Leah Spero, the Skincare Wellness Night sponsored by Clearlyderm was held at Clearlyderm’s Central Boca Raton location and was another wonderful way for participants to engage with one another and with our community. Guests learned about skin treatments, enjoyed raffles and giveaways, drinks and light bites, and were offered 20% off all services and products purchased during the event. This is just one of the many events designed to connect our community. For information about all of the Levis JCC’s exciting upcoming engagement events, please email Ilana Ducorsky at ilanad@levisjcc.org.
This week’s Torah portion is Shelach (Send) in the book of Numbers, the fourth in the Five Books of Moses. In it, Moses sends twelve spies to the land of Canaan. Forty days later, they return, carrying a huge cluster of grapes, a pomegranate and a fig, to report on a lush and bountiful land. But ten of the spies warn that the inhabitants of the land are giants and warriors “more powerful than we”; and despite that, Caleb and Joshua insist that the land can be conquered, as G-d has commanded. Similarly, despite numerous challenges faced by Jewish communities throughout the world, for more than 40 years the Levis JCC has prevailed. We look forward to continuing to build and grow our Levis JCC and our Jewish Community for many years to come. We hope you will join us for one (or many) of the exciting and engaging programs and events we offer.
