Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),

I hope everyone enjoyed a great holiday – despite the excessive heat! To beat the heat, Lori and I have been spending many evenings binging “Ted Lasso” which we loved, and we just started “Shrinking.” It’s great to unwind and be immersed in an engaging story!

There’s no lack of fun and engaging programs here are our Adolph and Rose Levis JCC. This week, it was “curtains up” on our Levis JCC Marleen Forkas Theater Camp’s production of Matilda. More than 200 proud friends and family members enjoyed an outstanding performance by our amazing campers. The 13th Annual Run, Sweat & Beers 5K, chaired by Ryan F. Zackon, is now only 2 weeks away! Join our run in the setting summer sun on Thursday, July 20 at 7:00 pm! Registration is still open at levisjcc.org/5k. We welcome volunteers to help on the race course and at the after party from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. If you can lend a hand and support this great community event, please contact Lauren Koblick at Laurenk@levisjcc.org. Finally, a wonderful way to counter record-breaking temperatures outside is by enjoying one (or many) of our fantastic Summer of Culture programs. It’s a long HOT summer – cool off with a pop of culture! Click here to view our brochure.

This week’s Torah portion is Pinchas (the main character’s name) in the book of Numbers, the 4th in the Five books of Moses. In it, are two important ideas that really resonate in our modern times. One is the census and knowing the size of your community. South Palm Beach County is growing exponentially and knowing and understanding our area demographics is critical to our organizational and communal growth. The other is that Moses appoints Joshua as his successor. Succession strategies are vital to any organization’s health and play a critical role in ensuring that it can thrive and hopefully grow for many years to come.

Light Shabbat candles Friday evening at 7:59 pm.
Shabbat ends Saturday night at 8:54 pm.

Shabbat Shalom!
