This Shabbat is the last Shabbat for the month of July. How are we already heading into August signaling the end of camp and the beginning of the new school year? As I come to the end of my 4th month on the job as your Adolph & Rose Levis JCC CEO, it is truly a joy to be engaging with our campers through the weekly Oneg Shabbat program and through Color War. This week we are also making the big physical move from our historic location on Donna Klein Boulevard to our new home on 95th Avenue S., aka the North Campus. Beginning this Monday, the move to our new location will be complete, however, Zale will continue to operate from its historical location.
Our Levis JCC Phyllis & Harvey Sandler Center Summer Membership Special is on! Membership prices will be increasing on September 1. If you wish to renew, upgrade or invite a friend to become a new member, you can do so at last year's prices, but only until September 1! This Fall, we are enthusiastically returning to in-person programs and we will also continue to offer a robust, year round virtual program. A GOLD PLUS membership will offer you the best value if you are planning to enjoy both. Please contact Lesley Surfer with questions about membership. Lesley can be reached at 561-558-2520 or lesleys@levisjcc.org.
This week’s double Torah portion is Matot Massei (Tribes – Journeys) in the book of Numbers, the 4th book in the 5 books of Moses. In it, the forty two journeys and encampments of Israel are listed, from the Exodus, to their encampment on the plains of Moab across the river from the land of Canaan. While our Levis JCC’s physical move is not quite as complex, it none the less represents a critical moment in time for the evolution of our JCC and for our Jewish community. I hope you will stop by and check out our new space. I would love to give you a tour of the facility.
