Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),
My wife Lori and I just returned home after a wonderful few days in Colorado where we enjoyed catching up with my brother and sister-in-law. Sometimes we all just need to get away, recharge our batteries and celebrate and acknowledge our blessings.
At our Adolph & Rose Levis JCC, we are coming to the end of our fiscal year on August 31st. I am so proud to be able to say that our Levis JCC has once again enjoyed wonderful growth and financial stability this year, and we are projecting another year of growth! Our Marleen Forkas Summer Camps were sold out; today was the first day of school at our Betty & Marvin Zale Early Childhood Learning Center, which is at capacity with long waiting lists. As we look to the coming year, all of the Levis JCC’s departments are planning another full season of enriching, engaging, and exciting programming.
This week’s Torah portion is Shoftim (Judges), which is found in Deuteronomy, the fifth and final book of the Five Books of Moses. In it, we learn the powerful teaching of “justice, justice shall you pursue.” In order to pursue justice, we all need to take the time to pause, reflect, set goals, and plan for the future – both in our professional and our personal lives. As the summer wanes, please know that our Levis JCC departments have spent considerable time planning meaningful and essential programs for our whole community to enjoy. We look forward to seeing you here!
