Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),

With the Jewish New Year now behind us, we find ourselves in the Ten Days of Awe, the sacred period between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. These Yamim Noraim invite us to pause, reflect on the past year, and consider new opportunities for growth. Here at our Adolph & Rose Levis JCC, we strive toward improvement by offering our community the very best through our programs, services, and the meaningful connections that bring people together each day.

At our Betty & Marvin Zale Early Childhood Learning Center, we begin the foundation of building connections and bringing community together at our JCC. Last week classes from Baby & Me through Pre-K spent time learning about Rosh Hashanah and integrating the holiday into their daily lessons. From art projects to mathematics and sensory explorations, apples were a perfect tool to create, measure and of course to taste! On Friday, students had some special visitors, the Honey Bees, where they learned all about how honey is made. It was a perfect way to welcome the new year.

This week's Torah Portion is Vayelech (and He Went) in Deuteronomy, the fifth in the Five Books of Moses. In it, Moses prepares for the end of his life by transferring his leadership to Joshua and inscribing the Torah in a scroll. The mitzvah of Hak’hel is then introduced, calling all of Israel to gather in Jerusalem every seven years to hear the Torah read aloud. All these thousands of years later, our commitment to preserving our roots and traditions through ritual, connection and strong leadership continues to guide and strengthen our own community right here in South Palm Beach County.

Light Shabbat candles Friday evening at 6:54 pm.
Shabbat ends Saturday evening at 7:46 pm.

Shabbat Shalom
Am Yisrael Chai!
