Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),
With the holiday season in full swing and a new secular year upon us, Lori and I are really looking forward to visiting our family in St. Louis to celebrate and ring in 2024 with them.
Here at the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center, the end of the year is anything but quiet! Our Phyllis & Harvey Sandler Center will present holiday concerts on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day; our Marleen Forkas Mini Camps are full of children (K-5th grade) enjoying fun-filled days while school is out; and our Schwedelson Special Needs Department’s Camp Kavod offers children and teens 3 - 22+ the opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities on campus and out in our community. We are able to present excellent programs and services to our community due to the generous support of our dedicated supporters. If you would like to make a gift to the Levis JCC and enjoy the unique tax-savings opportunities available in 2023, there is still a little time. To make a gift, please click the Donate Now button below before December 31, 2023.
This week’s Torah Portion is Vayigash (And He Approached) in Genesis, the first in the Five Books of Moses. In it, G-d reveals to Jacob his divine promise “Fear not to go down to Egypt for I will there make of you a great nation. I will go down with you into Egypt and I will also surely bring you up again.” It is that divine promise that we continue to defend in the modern day state of Israel.
Light Shabbat candles Friday evening at 5:12 pm. Shabbat ends Friday night at 6:09 pm.
Shabbat Shalom
Am Yisrael Chai!
