Preschool is a “giant” step in your child’s development. Separation can be a difficult time for you and your child as their knowledge of the world is growing and they may cling to you for reassurance that all is safe. At Zale we know the eagerness of your child, the exciting environment of our classrooms and the warmth, love and concern the teachers provide will guarantee to make a child’s transition into the classroom a huge success.
During separation, parents should bring their child into the classroom and have a seat on the side of the room. Their teacher will encourage your child to play and interact while you, the parent, now become the observer. Your child’s teacher will let you know when to leave, according to your child’s individual needs. When leaving your child, always give them a quick good-bye and let them know you will be back for them soon. Good-bye is important as it builds trust between you and your child. End of class routines such as “meet me at bubble time” or a good-bye song can help children have closure to their day. They are now ready to begin their journey to independence!

VPK for the 2019-20 School Year
What is VPK?
The Office of Early Learning is issuing VPK certificates for the 2019-2020 school year. In the VPK School Readiness Program, the state of Florida pays for 540 hours of a Pre-K program. These hours are built into our school year. The VPK days on the Levis JCC Zale calendar usually run from October thru April. You will receive a calendar of those Levis JCC Zale VPK days in the fall.
Who is eligible?
All children who are four years old by September 1, 2019 are eligible. Levis JCC Zale offers it to all age-eligible children enrolled in our program.
How do I register?
You must register your child in the county in which they will be attending a VPK school. VPK in Palm Beach County is administered by the Early Learning Coalition.
Upon enrollment you will receive your child’s Certificate of Eligibility. Please sign, date and return to Levis JCC Zale before the start of the school year.
