Levis JCC Pride

As a Jewish community, now more than ever, it’s so important that we’re all working collaboratively to ensure that our community is an open door and welcoming to all. The Levis JCC is committed to supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Working with many other organizations in our area, we endeavor to ensure that ours is an inclusive and safe community for everyone. We look forward to representing our Jewish community at local Pride events whenever possible.

We are extremely proud to be connected with Keshet, a national organization that works for the full equality of all LGBTQ Jews and their families in Jewish life. Learn more about Keshet »

The Child Within Me

Thursday, February 22, 3:30 pm
Movies of Delray
Yehuda Poliker, one of Israel’s musical giants – in a retrospective meeting of his own life – stares calmly into the camera; sometimes with longing, sometimes with regret, but mostly lovingly. He watches rare archival footage, some of which are never before seen family home-videos. At times, he joins in on the guitar, accompanying that same stuttering, insecure young man looking back at him from the screen, or his parents singing Greek songs, and sometimes, he just sits silently and reminisces. In conversation between then and now, in conversation with his friend for the past 40 years, Eti Aneta Segev, images from Poliker’s life join one another, while his touching music plays in the background. The images spark memories that transport us freely between the different junctures of his life.

Sundays, March 17, 24, 2:00 pm
Mr. Green, an 86-year-old widower living in Manhattan, is almost hit by a car driven by young corporate executive Ross Gardiner. Found guilty of reckless driving, Ross is ordered to spend the next six months making weekly visits to Mr. Green, who, after his wife’s death, has retreated from life, letting himself and his apartment go to ruin. Ross is lonely too, but instinctively nurturing. The story starts as a comedy about two people who resent being forced together but develops into a gripping and poignant drama as family secrets are revealed and old wounds are opened. This beloved play, one of the most produced in the world over the past 25 years, has reached millions of theater-goers on six continents.
