Levis JCC Pride

As a Jewish community, now more than ever, it’s so important that we’re all working collaboratively to ensure that our community is an open door and welcoming to all. The Levis JCC is committed to supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Working with many other organizations in our area, we endeavor to ensure that ours is an inclusive and safe community for everyone. We look forward to representing our Jewish community at local Pride events whenever possible.

We are extremely proud to be connected with Keshet, a national organization that works for the full equality of all LGBTQ Jews and their families in Jewish life. Learn more about Keshet »

Mazeltov with author and filmmaker Eli Zuzovsky
Book talk and screening of short film, Mazel Tov

Monday, December 1, 7:30 pm
Mazeltov is a powerfully told coming-of-age story about an Israeli boy navigating queer lust, shame, and national tension on the day he becomes a man. Set in a chaotic banquet hall during wartime, Adam’s bar mitzvah unravels into a glorious catastrophe. Through the varied perspectives of family and friends, Mazeltov reveals a young man’s quest to understand himself and his place in a fractured world. It is a tender yet satirical examination of identity, religion, war, and the messiness of being human.
Eli Zuzovsky is a film and theater writer and director, born and raised in Tel Aviv. He graduated from Harvard with a bachelor’s in filmmaking and English, winning the Sudler, Hoopes, and McCord Prizes. Zuzovsky holds a master’s in French and German and a Ph.D. in fine art from Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. Shortlisted for an Israeli Academy Award, his work has been presented at the Harvard Film Archive, the American Repertory Theater, and Modern Art Oxford, among others. He’s been selected for the Venice Biennale College, Berlinale Talents, the Israeli Forbes list of “30 Under 30,” the Séries Mania Writers Campus, and the London Library Emerging Writers Programme. Zuzovsky is the winner of the 2025 Einstein Fellowship for “outstanding young thinkers.” Mazeltov is his debut novel.
